Your oral health has a direct impact on nearly every aspect of your health. We can help you maintain excellent oral health – as well as excellent overall heath - through general dental care at our Chattanooga practice serving East Brainerd and surrounding communities. Establishing an ongoing relationship with an experienced dentist is equally important as daily brushing and flossing. Dr. Damien Armstrong provides exceptional preventative care including regular six-month checkups, oral cancer screenings, fluoride treatment, and custom mouth guards for sports. He provides custom mouth guards for curbing the nighttime tooth grinding associated with temporomandibular (TMJ) disorder. Dr. Armstrong can also take care of your periodontal and root canal therapy treatments, as well as tooth extractions. If you and your family are new to the Chattanooga area, or if you need to establish ongoing general dental care, please contact our office today.

Six-month Checkups

Plaque buildup, cavities, and other complications can occur in the mouths of even those who are absolutely devoted to daily brushing and flossing. Bi-annual visits to our office include a thorough professional cleaning, renewing your dental "clean slate" and allowing you to maintain the health of your teeth and gums for many years to come. These visits are also very important because they give Dr. Armstrong an opportunity to detect any possible complications in their very earliest stages. We provide oral cancer screenings that use ultraviolet light to detect the warning signs that are not visible with the human eye. We also provide fluoride treatments that strengthen your tooth enamel against demineralization and tooth decay. These regular checkups can also be an excellent opportunity for you to discuss any goals or concerns you have for your smile, which may be addressed with treatments such as teeth whitening or Six Month Smiles®.

Night Guards

If you often wake up with a sore jaw, dull headache, or facial discomfort, you may be grinding your teeth at night. Other tell-tale signs of teeth grinding, or bruxism, include loose or eroded teeth, resulting from tremendous pressure that causes slight but repetitive shifting throughout the night. Bruxism is often caused by stress or an imbalanced bite, and can lead to TMJ disorder, or excessive strain on the jaw joints that results in shoulder pain, headaches and other complications. If you are experiencing these symptoms, Dr. Armstrong can determine whether you are grinding your teeth at night, and treat this condition with a custom mouth guard. These comfortable, unobtrusive devices are specially designed to prevent nighttime teeth grinding, preserving the health of your teeth and helping you to wake up each day feeling rested and comfortable.

BOTOX® Medical

While the majority of patients receive BOTOX® injections to achieve cosmetic goals, BOTOX® Medical treatment has also been effective in the treatment of migraines, chronic headaches, and symptoms of TMJ disorder. Using a series of simple injections, Dr. Armstrong can target specific muscles that have been causing excessive strain and discomfort. BOTOX® Medical contains a highly diluted form of the botulinum toxin, which relaxes muscles while leaving surrounding tissues and nerves undamaged. This non-surgical treatment is typically completed during a one-hour appointment, helping patients to eliminate strain on the jaw and improve their quality of life.

3D Imaging

At River City Dentistry, we offer patients some of the most advanced dental technology available. One of our most valuable and versatile tools is a cone beam computerized tomography (CT) scanner to provide 3D imaging. The ability to evaluate a treatment area with 3D images allows Dr. Armstrong to diagnose issues with extreme accuracy. With 3D imaging, we can examine the volume, density, shape, and integrity of a patient's jaw to obtain a clear understanding of your concerns. If you are seeking the benefits of dental implants, we can use 3D imaging for guided implant placement and enhanced precision. For those who need treatment for a damaged tooth, we can take detailed 3D images and use them to help create a same-day dental crown.
